FAQ-s

Go to top

How does the treatment work?

Following a consultation assessing suitability for treatment, our surgeon injects the SCLEREMO® solution into the unwanted vein causing it to sclerose (“harden”). The product acts on the lining of the vein by triggering a healing process which, once complete, causes the vein to fade from view. Blood flow then naturally shifts to nearby healthy blood vessels.

Is the treatment painful?

Our surgical team applies a topical anaesthetic before treatment, making the process entirely pain free.

What results should I expect and when?

It will on average take 6 to 8 weeks for the unwanted vein to disappear. The number of treatments required depends on the extent and severity of the varicose veins, ranging from a single session to 3 or 4. The wearing of a compression garment for a week following the procedure will be recommended as will basic physical exercise to stimulate blow flow in the area treated.
